Extreme Isolation Headphones allow you to monitor your music at moderate volumes by reducing outside sounds such as drums and amplified music by up to 29 decibels. The 1/8" mini-plug allows Extreme Isolation Headphones to be plugged into boom boxes, portable CD, MP3, MiniDisc players, and IPODs; the gold plated 1/4" adapter (included with each pair) allows them to be connected to both professional and consumer audio equipment.

I have been playing drums since the age of 10. For many years, when I practiced, I would turn my stereo up until I could hear the music over my drums. The result? A pile of blown speakers and permanent hearing damage. I began to use closed-ear stereo headphones for practicing, but the closed-ear phones did very little (almost nothing) to reduce the volume of my drums and cymbals. I still had to crank up the music to hear it and this was even worse for my hearing.

Eventually, I became aware of stereo isolation headphones, which were essentially ear protection headphones that had speakers inside. I began using them and found they were just what I needed. The fact that these headphones considerably reduced the volume of my drums allowed me to keep the volume of the music relatively low - effectively protecting my hearing from excessively loud sound levels.
