Official Launch of Online Drum Lessons.com!
Well, after countless hours of work over the past few years, I am finally ready to announce the official public launch of OnlineDrumLessons.com! It took a lot more time and work than I had ever imagined, but it was truly a labor of love.
Being somewhat of a perfectionist, I always felt the site was not ready to "go live". "This isn't right, that isn't right", "I don't like the way I worded that"! Well, any artist will tell you, sometimes you just have to put the paint brush down and consider the painting done! As time goes on, I'm sure I'll be rearranging things constantly, while adding new lessons, articles, new sub-sections, video capability, and much more. However, for now, I am "putting down the paint brush" and considering the site ready for public consumption. Besides, I need a break from all these late nights of editing code, graphics, and audio clips - just enough of a break to complete work on my first self-published drum book! ...it never ends, but I truly love every minute of it.
Site Content
You may notice that most of the lessons are currently aimed at beginner to intermediate drummers. This is because I decided to build the site from the ground up, with the initial focus on the basics of drumming, reading, and rhythmic theory. Many of the lessons and articles currently appearing on OnlineDrumLessons.com were developed because, as a drum educator, I frequently hear the same questions from students and other drummers. Due to this, I decided to begin compiling a centralized online drum lesson archive where my private students could go to clear up any questions they might have during the time between their weekly lessons. Now, OnlineDrumLessons.com is available for drummers around the world.
"Thank You"s
I'd like to extend a sincere "thank you" to my private students (who have had access to the beta version of this site since 2004) for their inspiration, questions, feedback, and invaluable input about the site- a few of you even caught some mistakes!
Most of all, I'd like to thank my good friend Lyle Caldwell, from Psionic Media, for his wonderful site design, for putting up with me and my demands during the process of building the site, and for his help in teaching me to maintain and update the site by myself (Man, I thought I'd be able to forget all about that raw HTML code I learned so long ago!). Seriously, I owe you big time, my friend.
I hope you all enjoy the site. I welcome and encourage your comments, suggestions, and lesson or article requests. Please email any correspondence to chris@onlinedrumlessons.com.
Thanks for stopping by!
